Geoff Gunby

I grew up in a small town next to the sea, an experience which affected me profoundly, although I didn't realise it at the time. The effect of the clear bright light picking out every detail on the faces of the people around me and of the buildings towering over me as a child has stayed with me all my life and set the basic template for the art I have gone on to produce. I like to paint people and things as they are in all their strangeness and complexity and seek to express the uniqueness of their being, what it is that makes them what they are. My work has varied over the years but I particularly enjoy painting figures and portraits and  actively seek commissions.
